God is faithful. Even when our lives are disrupted or not what we ever expected or wanted. He is with us through it all.

It’s so easy to focus on the negatives in our lives, to become depressed, and to lose hope that our lives will ever be happy and peaceful again when we are in the throes of grief, trauma, or uncertainty.

Lamentations 3: 17-20 definitely relates to those thoughts:

“my soul is bereft of peace; I have forgotten what happiness is; so I say, “My endurance has perished; so has my hope from the Lord.”Remember my affliction and my wanderings, the wormwood and the gall! My soul continually remembers it and is bowed down within me.”

But thankfully the verses don’t stop there! Verses 21-24 have become precious to me in my grief journey:
“But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

I try to meet with the Lord daily, usually in the morning, for Bible reading, prayer, devotional reading, and journaling my meditations on anything that speaks to me.

Taking time to focus on Jesus, to know that He is my source of strength and He has a plan for my life. Then surrendering my life to Him…Jesus meets me right where I am daily.

He is faithful! Take time to meet with Him today and experience His presence!

Thank you Donna for your faithfulness to God’s call on your life to reach widows. Today, I so needed this reminder. I’ve been struggling the last few weeks, and I know it is still the lingering grief of losing my daughter just a little over 2 years ago. But, then it brings back memories of losing my husband Keith 7 years ago and my son Gabriel from 13 years ago. I think the trauma of watching your loved ones die compounds the grief and adds to the trauma. So, pray for me today. The anxiety and depression come and go. I’ll be fine for months, and then the grief becomes overwhelming again. I know God walks with me and he has definitely shaped me through this, but some days I’m just not ok. And today is one of those days. I was asked to speak in November- and I have not spoken to a group in over 7 years since my husband’s passing. I accepted the invitation because I don’t want my grief and my anxiety or my fears to rule my decisions. I trust God will walk with me. I’ll be sharing my story of loss and hope. And today, I’m reminded that hope, even in sadness, is still grounded in. Christ alone. My comforter and my peace.
